GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Team Kubota came out swinging for the first day of the first event in the 2024 General Tire Team Series. Jacob Wheeler, Boyd Duckett and Dylan Hays connected with 59 bass weighing 101 pounds, 15 ounces, and a solid 40-14 cushion over Team Crockett Creek (34 bass for 61-2) at the Lucas Oil Qualifier Presented by B&W Trailer Hitches in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Duckett led the way with 22 largemouth for 38-10, almost all caught plinking a wacky-rigged worm around the multitude of docks surrounding Muskegon Lake.
Team Kubota — which features defending Team Series champions Wheeler and Hays — and Team Crockett Creek (Jonathon Van Dam, Matt Lee and James Elam) will advance to the semifinals, while Team Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff & Pouches (Bryan Thrift, Luke Clausen and Josh Butler) finished just below the cut line with 23 bass for 47-3. Six more teams will duke it out for four remaining spots in the semifinals.
