WHAT SETS IT APART?
Floatzilla’s patented technology enhances the appearance of any soft plastic by adding buoyancy. Notwithstanding soft baits made from buoyant materials, tactics such as pitching/flipping, shaky heads and Carolina rigging can benefit from a bait’s upward posture. Whether that’s mimicking the defensive posture of a crawfish, taunting a bed fish or resembling a baitfish or bream feeding on the bottom, raising a bait’s extremities increases the realism and triggers bites.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Floatzilla Tails are built with a wire screw lock that snugs the accessory against the bait. For optimal fit and consistent length, cut off a piece of your worm’s back end before attaching. Floatzilla offers multiple sizes and color options that allow anglers to add accents that enhance realism (example: chartreuse for matching bream tails). Along with the Tails, Floatzilla offers products for craw style baits, Texas-rigged baits and wacky rigging. The latter comes with O-rings and requires the angler to cut a soft stick worm in half and attach each end to the float chamber.

Floatzilla jumped into the mainstream consciousness when Bryan Schmitt used the Tails to enhance his shaky head work during the 2023 Bassmaster Classic at the Tennessee River. Schmitt noted he went into the event knowing bites would be few and far between; therefore, he needed to maximize his bait’s chances of getting noticed. The clear water areas Schmitt worked favored the subtle shaky head, but adding that back-end floatation gave his bait just enough attitude to attract aggressive response.
