If you haven’t heard about Chêne Gear yet, listen up. They make not only one of the best duck hunting waders on the market, but a bunch of other premium hunting apparel for serious waterfowlers. I’ve been lucky enough to use their gear for the last two duck seasons, and it’s some of the best I’ve ever worn.

So, if you’re shopping for an avid duck hunter this holiday season, look no further. I rounded up the best gift options from Chêne that will make any waterfowler happy. As a duck hunting-obsessed gear junkie myself, I’ve used every piece of gear on this list. And trust me, it works.

Best Chêne Gifts

Waders

Chêne Gear Waders

I started wearing Chêne Waders last season and fell in love with them right away. They feature the most comfortable wading boots I’ve ever worn with a cushiony EVA midsole. They’re lightweight and durable, and they come in a variety of patterns. Now, I don’t expect anyone to spend $1,100 on waders after reading three sentences. So check out my in-depth review of the Chêne Waders and see for yourself why they are made for diehard waterfowlers.

Jackets, Baselayers, and Vests

Over-and-Under Jacket

Waterfowlers can never have enough hunting jackets. The Chêne Over-and-Under is one of my favorites. I usually wear it as my outer layer under my waders and through a rain jacket over it if rain is in the forecast. It is very warm and comfortable. Pair it with a good baselayer and a mid-layer, and this jacket can last you through the entire season.

Merino Wool Half Zip and Sixty Series Hoodie

Chêne offers two baselayer uppers that are both warm and comfortable. The merino wool half-zip hoodie is a bit lighter and ideal for early season. The Sixty Series is a better fit if you’re looking for something heavier for hunting in cold conditions. It is one of the most comfortable baselayers I’ve ever worn and comes with me on every hunt from November to January.

Synthetic Down Vest

Chêne released an entirely new line of hunting apparel this past summer, and the Synthetic Down Vest is one of my favorites. I’ve already had the chance to hunt with it all of October, and I love it as a mid-layer. I paired it over a Sixty Series in the early season and I was warm enough with just that. When the temperature starts to drop over the next few weeks, I’ll add an outer layer. The synthetic down design is extremely warm and helps keep your core temperature up on the coldest of days.

Synthetic Down Jacket

After my first couple of hunts with this new coat, I texted one of my buddies, “I think I found my new favorite hunting jacket.” It is made with Primaloft’s 100 percent synthetic Silver ThermoPlume insulation, which is a fancy way of saying this jacket is warm. Plus, it is super light and packable. Hunters will also appreciate the handwarmer pockets, chest pockets, and draw-cord hood. It comes in six sizes and five patterns.

Hydro Lok-Shell

Every duck hunter needs a good rain jacket, and the Hydro-Lok Shell is hard to beat. It has vertical chest pockets, handwarmer pockets, a fleece-lined neck, and an adjustable hood. It can withstand the harshest rain hunters will find themselves in. Trust me—I hunted three days straight in the pouring rain and never got wet, thanks to the this rugged rain jacket.

Bottoms

Sherpa Fleece Wader Pant

These wader pants changed the way I dress for duck hunting. They’re comfortable and warm, and, most importantly, stay in place when I put on my waders. Lined with 300 grams of sherpa fleece, they’re very warm. I usually wear mine over a baselayer and secure the stirrups to my heels so they stay in place. They also come with a built-in adjustable belt and zippered rear pockets.

Bonded Fleece Field Stretch Pant

These bonded fleece stretch pants are ideal for scouting or field hunting. I usually switch into mine after a morning on the water before I hit the road to scout the afternoon. They’re reinforced in the waist and belt loops for increased durability and they have pockets in the rear, front, and leg—perfect for field hunts, scouting, or off-season management work. They comes in eight sizes and five patterns.

Hydro-Lok Bibs

New for 2023, the Chêne Hydro-Lok Bibs are made for dedicated waterfowlers who spend endless days in muddy fields. The triple-layer nylon construction offers breathability, waterproof protection, and abrasion resistance. They’re comfortable to wear and have a well-thought-out design with strategic pockets and a leg zipper to make them easy to get in and out of. They come in three colors, but the field tan is the best.

Scout Boot

If you have no idea what to buy a duck hunter that has everything, get them a pair of scout boots. I wear mine year-round, whether fishing, hunting, or just running out of the house. They have become what I call my “truck boots” and are the first thing I put on after I take my waders off. They’re comfortable, waterproof, and offer good traction at the slippery boat ramp. If your hunter wears a half-size, then size up for the best fit.

Slough Boots

Chene slough boot on blue and white background

The Slough Boot was designed for hunters managing wetlands, working in water, or in a place where they could use waterproof protection up to their knees but don’t want to wear waders. The boots have a comfortable EVA inner sole connected to 3mm of neoprene and a 12-inch extension of the same nylon material in the waders. All of this adds up to a comfortable boot and waterproof protection that extends over the knee—perfect for managing wetlands in the summer or scouting new marsh in the fall.

Zippered Knee High Boots

These are hands down the best rubber boots I’ve ever worn. They’re comfortable, waterproof, and come with extra 7mm inner soles for a more customized fit. The boots also feature a YKK zipper for easy on and off.

Everyday Wear

Chêne Short Sleeve Twin Oaks Tee

Rep the flooded timber everywhere you go with this awesome tee. It comes in six sizes and four colors.

Chêne Comfort Colors Sweatshirt

I haven’t taken this sweatshirt off since I got it. It is made from 100 percent cotton and perfect for wearing around duck camp or in town. I opted for the Blue Spruce color and I have gotten more compliments then I can count.
